The 1830s marked a period of transition in fashion, moving away from the Regency styles of the early 19th century and towards the more elaborate and voluminous silhouettes of the Victorian era.

 

This project was based on Frederick Randolph Spencer’s (1806-75) painting “Portrait of a Lady” from collection of the Los Angeles Country Museum of Arts:
